Source codes

Each item in the sources[] array of a PEP record is a coverage code naming a country or a supranational body the record is covered for, so you can tell which of your grants a record arrived under.

The contract types sources as an array of plain strings, not a closed enum, so a code for a country whose coverage is added later appears without a schema version change. Match the codes you care about and pass an unrecognized one through rather than treating it as an error.

Code Covers
pep-{iso3} One country’s coverage. {iso3} is that country’s ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 code in lower case, e.g. pep-swe.
pep-eu EU institutions.
pep-intl International organisations.

pep-eu and pep-intl are in every pep-scoped key’s grants automatically, and country codes are granted per key. See Per-country PEP licensing for how those grants decide which records you receive.

pep-swe means the record is covered for Sweden, not that the person is Swedish. A person covered by several countries carries several codes.

properties.country lists the same countries as sources, as ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes. Key grants and the country query parameter on the full snapshot match on sources.

Each of the record’s roles carries a jurisdiction, the jurisdiction whose PEP rules classify that role, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code or eu.
