Major release: structured names, a boolean deceased, and the removal of fields deprecated or never populated in 2.x. A request that pins no version receives 3.0.0, and the full record is documented on The PEP entity object.

deceased as ["yes"] for a deceased person and [] otherwise deceased as a boolean

2026-10-05: pep 2.0.8 (deprecated)

Adds roles[].jurisdiction (string, nullable), the jurisdiction whose PEP rules classify the role, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code or eu. It succeeds the deprecated roles[].organization.country. properties.country now includes the person’s citizenship, so it lists the same countries as sources.

Adds properties.identifiers[], a typed list of every identification number, each entry {type, value, country}. type is the source identification type (for example ssn, personnummer, passport, tax_id) and country is the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 issuing country; both are null if unset.

The flat idNumber, passportNumber, and taxNumber arrays are deprecated but still served. Migrate to identifiers[] and filter by type; the flat arrays are removed in 3.0.0.

A patch rolled into 2.0.0 on 2026-06-26 (no separately served patch version to pin): roles[].position title, category, and id now resolve to canonical taxonomy values. title is the canonical display name, id the taxonomy position id, and category the taxonomy category label. The wire shape is unchanged.

2026-06-04: pep 1.0.0 deprecated

pep_rca 1.0.0 is deprecated as of this date and will be disabled 2027-06-04. It stays served through that window: pin it with ?schema_version=1 or the schema-version=1 parameter on the Accept header. After the disabled date, pinned requests return 410 Gone with error.code schema_withdrawn.

The shape difference from 2.0.0: roles[].position additionally carries an institution field, always null in served 1.0.0 responses.
